Lee’s Birthday

My boyfriend Lee turned 39 today. I scheduled my clients to be done at 1:30 today so I could go home to prepare for the evening. On my way home, I stopped by the grocery store and bought everything to make my giant, flavorful hamburgers that Lee loves. I bought 2 lbs. of meat to make 3 hamburgers. I also bought a cake and candles.

I went home and cooked my awesome hamburgers and ate them with Lee and his son. After that, I brought out the cake and sang Happy Birthday to him and gave him his gifts. He only had two candles to blow out because I bought him a “3” and a “9”. Time was running out for the next thing I had planned so we had to make it quick!

Around 5:30, we left my house and headed to Comedy Works to see one of Lee’s favorite comedians – Ben Bailey.  Apparently he has a show called Cash Cab that I wasn’t aware of since I didn’t even know who he was.
We got there a little early to get good seating. I can’t believe how cramped it is in there.  I was practically sitting on top of the woman next to me because our chairs were touching and almost overlapped!  There is a two drink minimum so I ordered something called a White Gummy Bear.  It had some type of raspberry liqueur in it, along with a few other things. I don’t know why it was raspberry flavored though because the “white” gummy bear, which is actually somewhat clear is grape flavored. How many of you knew that one? I learned that who knows where, long ago and it stuck in my head as something important to remember for some reason.  Just in case it was a trivia question later in life.

The opening comedians were great and then Ben came out. He was hilarious!  I laughed so hard that my cheeks were killing me after just a few minutes into his show.  Not to mention my other cheeks that were soon to be numb!  Those seats aren’t the most comfortable things. He is from New York which I like very much.  The people in New York are down to earth and tell it like it is! I have been asked many times over the years if I am from there too, but no, I am a CO native.  Not really sure where I picked up the NY attitude. Hmmm.

After the show we went out to wait for the car at the valet station.  While standing there, I noticed a sign to my left and a conflicting sign on the valet station. The first one I read said “Complimentary Valet Parking.”  Then I looked at a magnetic sign posted on the station that reads “Valet $5.00”.  Of course I voiced my confusion out loud to Lee and others waiting for their vehicles.  The attendant brought the lady in front of me her car and she went ahead and asked which one it is.  “Is it complimentary OR $5”? BUSTED! The attendant took the magnetic sign down and said “No, no, it’s complimentary”. So, the lady tipped him $5 and drove away. Geez! I think they probably make pretty good tips without having to pull a fast one on people too!
